About Radon
Radon is invisible, odourless, and common in Calgary homes. It is a radioactive gas created from naturally occurring uranium deep underground. This gas then seeps up through the soil where it normally dissipates harmlessly into the atmosphere. However, it can also build up indoors and long-term exposure increases the risk of lung cancer. In Canada, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.
Radon is a known carcinogen. If you are a smoker, your risk increases substantially.
One of the more dangerous aspects of radon is that the signs of exposure are very similar to that of allergies or flu. Symptoms often take years to develop. Royal Radon exists so you don’t have to guess. We combine certified testing, clear reports, and tailored mitigation systems to get your radon levels as low as reasonably achievable – and we show you the data to prove it.
Health Canada has suggested that 1 in 3 people who smoke and are exposed to higher levels of radon gas will develop cancer.
Aside from smoking, the two factors that will determine your susceptibility to health riks from radon are the length of time you have been exposed and the levels of exposure you have endured.
Health Canada’s guideline for safe levels of radon in the home are 200 Bq/m³. There is no completely risk-free level, but they recommend taking action if your long-term average is above this number, and acting sooner if levels are very high for example, greater than 600 Bq/m³).

Why Royal Radon?
Independent Advocate
We start as your measurement and advice partner, not as salespeople. Every home gets a clear, Health Canada–aligned testing plan and a plain-language report before we ever talk about systems or hardware.
Certified Testing & Mitigation
Royal Radon offers both C-NRPP-compliant measurement and mitigation. That means your home is assessed and fixed using methods recognized across Canada for safety and effectiveness.
Transparent Price Ranges
Most professional radon tests in Canada fall between about $100 and $300 depending on method and device.
Most Calgary radon mitigation systems land between roughly $1,500 and $3,000, with complex homes sometimes higher.
We publish realistic ranges up front and give firm quotes before any work starts.
Guaranteed Results
Our mitigation systems are designed to bring your home below the Canadian guideline and, in most cases, into the low double-digits. If a system we install doesn’t drop levels as promised, we come back and make it right at our cost.
Local Focus: Calgary & Surrounding Area
Radon risk depends on geology, construction type, and how your home is used. Calgary and nearby communities see a significant number of homes above the guideline; long-term surveys show about 7% of Canadian homes are over 200 Bq/m³ and no region is “radon-free.”
We focus our entire service area on Calgary and its surrounding communities so we can respond quickly and design systems that work for housing unique to our environment.
How It Works
Assess
Book an online consultation. We review your home layout, how you use your basement, and any previous tests. We recommend short-term, long-term, or combined testing based on Health Canada guidance.
Measure
We place professional-grade devices in your home (or provide a long-term kit) and give simple instructions so the test reflects your normal living conditions.
Explain
You get a written report in plain language, including your average radon level, how it compares to the 200 Bq/m³ guideline, and what Health Canada recommends at your level.
Fix
If mitigation is needed, we design a system tailored to your home, provide a clear quote range before coming onsite, and install in about a day in most homes. Typical systems use sub-slab depressurization with a quiet exterior fan venting radon safely above the roofline.
Verify
Post-mitigation testing confirms the system is doing its job. We keep you in the loop with easy-to-read before/after data and recommendations for future re-testing.
